Roses YKVL

Yorkville Cellars is tucked away along the winding turns of California Route 128 in Mendocino County.  Their vineyards have been certified organic for 30 years and have been producing top-notch wine for just as long.   To no surprise, Yorkville’s current offerings carry on that proud tradition.

Yorkville Cellars 2015 “Vin Dune Nuit” Rose

Tasting Notes:

Aromas of ripe strawberries, cherries, and cranberries mingle with notes of thyme on the nose. Flavors of cranberry, strawberry, and plum flow into traces of thyme and minerals on the palate. Bright and lively with a mouthwatering acidity, open a bottle with grilled chicken breasts seasoned by fresh herbs. Less than 400 cases were made.

Grape(s): 55% Cabernet, 20% Malbec, 10% Carmenere, 5% Petit Verdot, 5%, Cab Franc & 5% Merlot

Tasting Notes:

Fragrances of blackberries, blueberries, cherries, and green chilies greet the senses. A sip reveals flavors of currant, blackberry, and black cherry that unfold into nuances of oak, sweet spice, and herbaceous hints. With rich dark fruit and refined tannins, lamb chops would make a lovely companion. Less than 350 cases produced.

Tasting Notes:

Aromatics of plums, black cherries, and blackberries coalesce with allusions of toasted nuts, chocolate, and earth on the nose. With a sip, flavors of plum, cherry, and bramble fruit are accented by suggestions of dark chocolate, rose petal, and dusty earth. A wine with cocoa tannins and welcoming dark fruit, enjoy a glass with Buffalo burgers. Under 700 cases produced.

Tasting Notes:

A bouquet of plums, cherries, toasty vanilla, and spice greets the senses. The palate reveals flavors of raspberry, plum, and cherry that open up into whispers of caramel, spice, and earth. Elegant with plush tannins, it’s a fine wine to pair with a mushroom risotto. Fewer than 800 cases were made.

Tasting Notes:

Notes of blackberries, cassis, and black cherries mingle with undertones of sweet spice and oak on the nose. Currant, cherry, and blackberry flavors emerge on the palate, along with highlights of toasty oak, clove, and earth. Nicely structured with a good fruit core, a juicy New York steak would be a ideal pairing. Less than 120 cases produced.

Yorkville Cellars 2013 “Same Vine” Blend

Grape(s): 50% Petit Verdot & 50% Melbec

Tasting Notes:

The nose offers aromas of blueberries, blackberries, and plums that come together with elements of chocolate and floral earth. Flavors of blueberry, bramble fruit, and cherry blend with expressions of dark chocolate, floral spice, and earth on the palate. A unique blend with rich tannins, think hearty stew, beef or wild mushroom, as a good accompaniment. Under 120 cases were made.
