The folks at New Belgium love to experiment and the Brewery’s seasonal releases give them the perfect way to show off what they’ve come up with.  Had the chance to try a couple of their current offerings – the Lips of Faith Gruit as well as the Hop Kitchen # 5 Rye IPA. Here’s a breakdown of the beers:

Gruit: Lips Of Faith – Limited Release

Nose
An inviting smell of herbal and floral tones with a malty finish.

Taste
Herbal sweetness with lingering malty tones and peachy fruit.

Finish
Transitions to a Bitters finish.

Recommendation
Get a pint if you can find it or buy a bomber while supplies last.

A great beer to try if you are a fan of lighter Belgian beers.

Hop Kitchen # 5 Rye IPA

Nose
Hoppy green nose with light citrus notes and a bit of spice at the end.

Taste
Immediate hop & rye bite to the palate which fades to a nice malty finish.

Finish
Hops and spice finish that lingers on the tongue.

Recommendation
Try a sample before you dive into this Rye IPA. Unless, of course, you are
a fan of Rye beer.
