The Syrah grape variety has adapted well to the venues of California. It also helped to create a revival in interest of robust and heavy red wines. Increasingly planted in many of California’s more prolific viticultural areas, it has been enthusiastically produced and marketed by a group of winemakers calling themselves the “Rhone Rangers”.

Winemaker Ian Brand offers up a lighter, elegant Syrah. The nose is lush with fruit aromas of raspberry, blackberry jam, and cherry, blending with a hint of vanilla. The same layers of fruit return on the palate, flowing into hints of pepper and anise of the long, dry finish. A bottle would match very well with bison burgers. Try one, and enjoy.
