The Arroyo Seco region, where this wine originated, has many meso-climates, including the mouth of the canyon in the west, where red Bordeaux grape varieties flourish, warmed by reflective heat generated from the soil and nearby cliffs.

The layered nose first exhibits notes of cherry and blackberry. Aromas of coffee, smoked meats, and chocolate follow. Medium-bodied on the palate, flavors of blackberry, plum, and leather flow into accents of pepper and clove. Mellow tannins and a balanced acidity make it a highly drinkable Syrah. Bison burgers would make a very nice pairing.
