It’s the little newcomer to the Jamet family: with 3,500 btls, Cuvée Bullez is the first sparking rosé from Domaine des Vallettes, which usually markets 180,000 btls (85% of it red and rosé from the Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil AOC). Its maker is 28-year-old Antoine, who cut his teeth during three years in Australia working for a cellar that specialises in producing sparkling wines. The young oenologist recently teamed up with his brother François, 34, who in 2005 took over running the domaine founded by their father in the 1980s. “This low-volume cuvée is a trial run, but we’re already looking to make 10,000 bottles in 2010,” says Antoine Jamet, who’s convinced that this wine, with its festive bubbles, will be a success for drinkers wanting to buller, or “chill out”.
