Long considered favorites in Spain, Rueda wines are being discovered by more and more people here in the United States. Verdejo, the indigenous variety of the region, is fairly similar to Sauvignon Blanc and, more often than not, is a very good value.

Tasting Notes:

A bouquet of green apple, citrus fruits, and minerals rises up from a glass.   Favors of tart apple and lime are accented by notes of minerals and herbs on the palate.  A crisp, clean , white, it’s ideal for white fish or to enjoy on a warm evening.

Prado Rey 2012 Verdejo

Region: Rueda, Spain

Tasting Notes:

Aromas of citrus fruits and pear mingle with notes of limestone and banana on the nose. The palate offers flavors of lime, pineapple, and Asian pear with just a hint of minerals. A light, clean wine that’s very approachable, fans of easygoing whites should give this a try. 15,000 cases produced.

Tasting Notes:

Aromatics of tropical fruit, lime, and honeydew meld with notes of sesame seeds and limestone.  A sip delivers flavors of kiwi, melon, and lime that unfold into nuances of minerals and herbs.  A supple white, with a lively mineral backbone, it will compliment anything from salads to shrimp to light pastas.
