Viticulture Notes
The 2007 Sonoma County harvest was smaller than normal; however, the fruit quality was exceptionally high. There was little winter rainfall, which affected both the size and the timing of the 2007 vintage. The berry size was smaller than average, thus affecting the cluster weight, which resulted in highly concentrated fruit.
Review
This wine is predominately Zinfandel, with splashes of Petite Sirah and Syrah for extra character. From its deep garnet hue, aromas of raspberry, black cherry, and highlights of cracked pepper envelop your senses. The palate is driven by bright red berries, along with notes of plum, pepper, Asian spices, and vanilla, which build to a jammy finish. An approachable wine, that’s under $20 dollars, makes it a good value for Zin lovers everywhere.
