For the lucky few that can afford to open wines priced at over $25 on a daily basis, they are truly blessed, and the rest of us are rather jealous.  Still, we can take solace in the fact that there are very serviceable bottle on the market for $10 or less.  Here are a handful we’ve discovered:

   

La Vielle Ferme 2017 Rosé

Grape(s): 40% Cinsault, 40% Grenache & 20% Syrah

Region: France

Price: 5-10

Tasting Notes:

A bouquet of strawberries, citrus fruits, bubble gum, and herbs rises up from a glass. Fairly light and approachable, flavors of strawberry and lemon blend with hints of bubble gum and thyme. Friendly with a refreshing acidity, it’s a winner for under $10.

Columbia Crest 2015 Chardonnay

Grape(s): Chardonnay

Region: Columbia Valley, Washington

Price: 5-10

Tasting Notes:

Notes of melon, peach, and pear mingle among allusions of buttered popcorn and coconut cream on the nose. A sip reveals flavors of peaches, pears, and honeydew that flow into elements of buttery oak and creamy vanilla. A reasonable combination of butter and fruit with a solid acidity, it’s not bad for under $10.

Geyser Peak 2016 Sauvignon Blanc

Grape(s): Sauvignon Blanc

Region: California

Price: 5-10

Tasting Notes:

Aromatics of green apple skin, melon, and citrus fruit intermingle with suggestions of grass and minerals on the nose. Fairly crisp, flavors of passion fruits, honeydews, and grapefruits take shape on the palate, with accents of flint and wild grass. With a fresh acidity and lively character, fans of dry, refreshing Sauv Blancs should check out this bargain.

Chateau St. Michelle 2016 Riesling

Grape(s): 100% Riesling

Region: Columbia Valley, Washington

Price: 5-10

Tasting Notes:

Notes of lime peals, nectarines, and green apples mingle among suggestions of minerals and citrus blossoms on the nose. Flavors of key lime, stone fruit, and apple emerge on the palate, accented by whispers of wet stone and white flowers. A crisp acidity (and just a hint of sweetness) makes this an ideal food wine. Pair it with your favorite Chinese take-out seafood dish.
