I actually remember seeing the movie Endless Summer when it debuted in 1966. Boy, oh boy, this is a stroll down memory lane for me. Okay, enough reminiscing. I better pull my mind out of the past and get on with the task at hand. Endless Summer Rum is part of the Grain and Barrel Spirits Company that also produces Dixie Vodka and Chicken Cock Bourbon (no, I didn’t make that one up!). Their endless summer search for the perfect place to craft their rum eventually landed them in Barbados, at a distillery on the beach where they produce this particular rum from three different stills, two column stills and a pot still using coral filtered water from a spring garden aquifer.

The bottle even features the poster from the movie as its label and includes the tag line “the search for the perfect wave.” The rum inside is crystal clear. The nose is reminiscent of coconuts and bananas and cane sugar and even a touch of oak. On the palate, it is initially both sweet and spicy, followed by banana cream, coconut, and cane sugar. The finish is also sweet, spicy and warm, followed by vanilla and caramel and lasts a medium amount of time.

This is quite a nice rum, especially at its price point of around $15.00. It is flavorful and fruity and sweet and reminiscent of many delightful Caribbean smells and flavors. I whipped up a quick rum and coke and was not disappointed. The rum flavors all stood up to the coke with the coconut really making a statement and the sweetness level was elevated nicely. When it becomes available in your area you really should give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Endless Summer Rum is available for around $15.00 per 750 ML bottle and is 40% ABV.
