Barton G., from Miami’s imaginative restaurateur Barton G. Weiss, debuts June 18 for dinner on La Cienega in West Hollywood, bringing the playful, whimsical, almost theatrical style that only a South Beach spot could present to the City of Angels. Inside, find golden drapes strategically dividing the space while ornate furniture with rose gold and purple hues line the inside. At the bar, a striking pink onyx slab that contains the mixology section (think liquid nitro cocktails and boozy popsicles).
As for the fare, chef Scott Linquist executes some dazzling dishes like lobster truffle mac & cheese (served IN lobster), a bucket of (short rib) bones cooked Korean-style, and roasted jidori chicken with truffled white cheddar grits . The idea is to have fun and eat the fun. It’s not quite a bad combo for the party hearty folks that tend to populate West Hollywood, especially the pre-club and lounge crowd that will eventually wander onto Santa Monica Blvd or up onto Sunset. If anything, grab some sweet nachos with mango “cheese” and pistachio guac or giant “smokes” cake before hitting the night on the town.
