Mick and Jeannette McQueen farm the Clements Hills region, a sub-AVA located in the larger Lodi AVA. This 42 acre vineyard is 150 feet above sea level and is planted on Ramoth sandy loam, a soil type which contains granitic rock sources. The depth to the water table is no more than seven feet, and this allows mature vineyards like this one to remain non-irrigated.

Review
Here we have a light, highly approachable Syrah. Blackberry and cherry aromas blend with those of smoked game, cedar, and brown sugar. The palate is in perfect harmony with the nose, with a nice balance of flavors. Pair a bottle with smoked venison and you won’t be disappointed.
