The grapes for these wines come from the small Graff and Antle vineyards on the Chalone Bench within the “Chalone” viticulture area in Monterey, California. The wines are produced by winemaker Dan Karlsen. A portion of the profits from the sale of the wines benefit the Richard H. Graff Scholarship Fund for wine, food and hospitality education.

Review

This wine is blend of 94% Syrah, 4% Mourvedre, and 2% Viognier. The nose is soft with aromas of plum, burnt currants, bacon, and hints of pepper. The palate is an echo of the nose, with mellow tannins carrying an earthy character from start to finish. Smooth and not overbearing, a vegetable lasagna would make a very nice pairing.
