Ventana Vineyards has the oldest Syrah grapes in Monterey County, planted in 1978, by 11 years. The vines are pruned to take advantage of vertical shoot positioning giving them optimum sunlight and air for ripe full flavored grapes.

Review

A glass of Ventana’s Syrah greets you with aromas of pepper, blackberry, cherry, and hints of smoky spice. The palate is big and bright at first, but some breathing time allows flavors of blackberry, boysenberry, and ham to come forth. The finish brings highlights of black pepper and anise. It’s nice fruit with a good kick.
